Examples of Corporate Programs
Here's some examples of what other companies will be doing to help create a culture of risk awareness by working with GARP:
- A large multinational bank in Central Europe recently acquired a bank in Kazakhstan. Now the challenge is uniting the risk management areas of both banks although they speak different languages and have differing levels of risk management competencies. They will be utilizing the Foundations of Banking Risk and Regulation as a way to assure everyone in the newly acquired bank is 'on the same page' knowledge-wise. Also, the department heads will be encouraged to take the International Certificate in Banking Risk and Regulation.
- One of the largest banks in India will be offering their employees a reimbursement program for the International Certificate in Banking Risk and Regulation. They feel this approach will incent their employees to pursue this Certificate while gaining a comprehensive understanding of banking risks and regulations.
- A large energy firm based in the UK will be using the Foundations in Energy Risk Management as an orientation program for all new employees so that they truly understand the physical and financial aspects of the energy industry.
- A large multinational bank in North America is in the process of updating their new employee orientation program. They are considering using the Foundations of Banking Risk and Regulation program since it covers all the key aspects of banking risks - market risk, credit risk, treasury risk, operational risk - as well as an overview of Basel II.
- One of the world's largest financial institutions based in Western Europe would like to increase the risk awareness of all its employees in Latin America, where it has many branches. They are considering using the Foundations of Banking Risk and Regulation (in Spanish) to achieve this goal. A particularly appealing feature of the program is that each employee can take an assessment test at the completion of training.
