About the Instructors:

Recep Bildik, PhD, Senior Researcher

 

Dr. Recep Bildik is currently a Senior Researcher at GARP. Previously, Dr. Bildik was the Assistant Director at the Istanbul Stock Exchange (ISE) where he played a pivotal role in establishing the ISE's first computerized trading system, making regulations on market microstructure of equity market, managing market operations, and developing new products.

He also taught at the Graduate School of Business, Koc University, Turkey as an Associate Professor of Finance. He was a visiting scholar at the Graduate School of Business, University of Chicago and in the Finance Department, DePaul University during the 2003-2004 academic year. Dr. Bildik has published numerous articles on capital market in both local and international journals. He serves as an active member in professional boards and committees of numerous academic journals.

Dr. Bildik holds a PhD and MSc. in Finance from the Business School of Istanbul University, as well as a B.Sc. in Economics. In addition, he holds a Masters degree from the Public Administration program at the Kennedy School of Government of Harvard University as a Kokkalis Fellow.

Christopher Donohue, Ph.D., Managing Director


 

Dr. Christopher Donohue is Managing Director of the GARP Research Center and the GARP Digital Library and is a member of the FRM committee. He is responsible for managing the GARP Digital Library, developing new resources for GARP, including risk management courses, and conducting and supporting research in financial risk management areas.

Previously, Chris was a Partner at a hedge fund where he was responsible for the development of risk management and asset allocation tools for pension funds. Prior to that, Chris was a Director in the Global Research Center at Deutsche Bank where he led product research and development in the areas of risk management, asset liability management, and asset allocation. He also worked as Director of Optimization Technology at Alphatech, a leading-edge technology and research defense contractor, where he led algorithm development for intelligence aircraft path planning and sensor scheduling systems.

Chris has published several articles on portfolio management and optimization. He has a BA in Mathematics from Hamilton College and a PhD in Operations Research from the University of Michigan.

Peter Went, PhD, CFA®, Senior Researcher

 

Dr. Peter Went is a Senior Researcher at the GARP Research Center where he is developing new resources for GARP including risk management courses, and conducting and supporting research in financial risk management topics.

Previously, he was an assistant professor of finance at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, PA. Peter has also taught at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, NE and the Graduate School of Business at the Central European University in Budapest, Hungary. Prior to that Peter has worked as an investment analyst for a Nordic boutique investment firm. Peter is the member of the board of a publicly traded bank and a widely held technology company.

Peter has published several articles in finance journals. He holds a PhD in Finance from the University of Nebraska, an M.Sc in Economics from the Stockholm School of Economics, and an LL.M from the Stockholm University School of Law. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®).
